The influence of residual stresses in a welded vessel on the hydrogen attack lifetime
This paper deals with the micromechanical modeling of hydrogen attack, a typical failure mode occurring in reactors used in the petrochemical industry. The modeling involves a description of the chemical reaction that drives the damage evolution and a model of the damage process itself. The model is applied to describe the hydrogen attack of a welded vessel and, in particular, to study the influence of the residual stresses.
