Effect of enamel coating on the corrosion of Ti60 alloy
The air oxidation and corrosion induced by the synergistic effect of solid NaCl deposits and water vapor of the Ti60 alloy with an enamel coating have been investigated. The results revealed that the enamel coating markedly improved the oxidation resistance of the alloy at 600-800 degreesC in air, since the coating possesses a good thermal chemical stability and a thermal expansion coefficient matching well with Ti60 alloy. The coating showed good corrosion resistance to solid NaCl deposits in mixtures of oxygen with water vapor at 600 degreesC. The enamel coating can also improve long-term oxidation of the alloy in air at 600 degreesC, and acts as the barrier for suppressing the migration of oxygen into the substrate, thus prevents the alloy from oxygen embrittlement.
