Synthesis and magnetic properties of chiral molecule based magnets
pi -conjugated high-spin oligonitroxide chiral radicals are employed for synthesis of a series of new chiral molecule based magnetic materials. Magnetic properties of a one-dimensional paramagnetic complex made up of 2-{4'-((S)-2"-methylbutoxy)phenyl}-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline- 1-oxyl-3-oxide and hexafluoroacetylacetonato Mn, a one-dimensional metamagnetic complex made up of 1,3-bis(N-tert-butylamino-N-oxyl)5-{1'-methyl-1-((,S)-2"-methylbutoxy)ethyl} benzene and hexafluoroacetylacetonato Mn are reported. A single crystal of a new three-dimensional bimetallic complex [Mn(damp)](3)[Cr(CN)(6)](2). 4H(2)O, where damp is a diamagnetic chiral ligand (s)-1,2-propane diamine, was grown. This compound is a ferrimagnetic chiral analogue of 'Prussian blue' and has T-C = 53 K.
