Field induced phase transitions of RE6Fe13X compounds RE=Nd, Pr; X= Pd,Sn,Si
Magnetization measurements on RE6Fe13X (RE = Nd, Pr; X = Pd, Sn, Si) show multiple step-like changes with external fields that cannot be explained by a magnetic structure of collinear aligned antiferromagnetic moments. For Pr6Fe13Pd, which seems to approach saturation at 4.2 K and 14.5 T, the mean Fe moment (1.27 mu (B) calculated with the free Pd3+ moment) is rather small, compared to the one of compounds with similar RE/Fe ratio and the value of the Fe-57 hyperfine field.
