Phase segregation in Bi1-xCaxMnO3 (x >= 0.75) investigated by neutron and synchrotron X-ray diffraction
Ultra-high resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and high resolution neutron powder diffraction in Bi1-xCaxMnO3 (x greater than or equal to0.75) have evidenced that these systems present a phase segregation coinciding with the electronic localization of the eg electrons. The very precise results obtained give evidence of a mechanism for phase segregation based on subtle compositional heterogeneity effects.
