Measurement of (p,p) elastic cross-sections for N-14 and Al-27 at laboratory angles of 178((o)under-bar) AND 140((o)under-bar) in the range 0.5 2.5 MeV
In this work the (p,p) non-Rutherford scattering cross-sections for nitrogen and aluminium at energies ranging between 500 and 2500 KeV and at laboratory angles of 178degrees and 140degrees have been measured. The target sample consisted of a layer of AlN (1.35x10(18) at cm(-2) thickness) deposited on vitreous graphite and covered with an Au film (5.5x 10(16) at/cm(2) thickness). Results show that N has sharp resonances at 1058, 1558, 1734 and 2483 KeV for both scattering angles. Al cross-section shows a strong deviation from Rutherford cross-section for energies above 1.2 MeV. No strong dependence of scattering angle was detected for the elements measured.
