Hot-electron microwave noise in a two-dimensional electron gas
Compound-semiconductor heterostructures containing a high-density high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas are considered. Experimental results on hot-electron fluctuations are discussed in terms of ultrafast kinetic processes activated by a high electric field applied parallel to the heterojunction. The main attention is paid to energy dissipation, interwell transfer and other hot-electron processes that are modified due to electron confinement.
