Electrochemical investigation of the equilibria (covellite plus anilite) and (covellite plus digenite)
The thermodynamic properties Delta(f)G(m) degrees, Delta(f)H(m) degrees, and Delta(f)S(m) degrees of the low-digenite, high-digenite, and anilite phases in equilibrium with CuS were determined as a function of temperature from e.m.f, measurements carried out with a solid galvanic cell : Cu \ Cu(I) solid ionic conductor \(Cu3BiS3 + CuS + Anilite (digenite)). Two transition temperatures were found at T = 352K and T = 312K. The first one corresponds to the low digenite-high digenite transition, and the second one to the anilite-low digenite transformation. The entropy of the transition from stable low digenite to high digenite was also calculated as Delta(trs)S(m) degrees = 11.53 (J.K-1.mol(-1)).
