Interaction between rare earth and hydrogen in eutectic Al-Cu melt
The effect of rare earth element Cc of different amount on hydrogen content in eutectic Al-Cu melt has been measured. The results shows that hydrogen content in melt increases under the same melt temperature and the same holding time. The hydrogen content in eutectic Al-33.2 wt% Cu melt with the addition of 0.6% Ce, increases from 0.06 ml/100g to 0.16 ml/100g at 750 C and holding 20 min. The variation of hydrogen content in the melt with different rare earth contents with temperature has also been measurd. The hydrogen content in eutectic Al-Cu melt with 0.6%Ce are 0.14 ml/100g, 0.16 ml/100g, 0.23 ml/100g and 0.29 ml/100g at the temperature of 720degreesC, 750degreesC, 800degreesC and 850degreesC respectively. The variation of hydrogen content in Al-33.2 wt% Cu melt with holding time has been studied.
