Effect of Be on phase transformations in an A357-AlSiMg alloy
The effect of small Be additions on the precipitation sequence and on the mechanical properties of a foundry alloy A357-AlSiMg is studied. DSC measurements on asquenched samples and on peak-aged conditions have been made, together with tensile tests and microhardness evaluations. The results show that both the transformation sequence from a supersaturated solid solution and the mechanical tests are little affected by the presence of beryllium.
