In,this work, the electrooptical Kerr effect is considered from the aspect of its application in the high voltage technics. The physical fundament of the Kerr effect is explained. It was pointed at the required characteristics of the He-Ne laser for its application in the area of high voltage transient fields by the electrooptical Kerr effect.
