This paper discusses about the heat transfer models developed for continuous casting. In recent years, a lot of different kinds of heat transfer models for continuous casting have been developed. At the Helsinki University of Technology, on line and off-line heat transfer models as well as a solidification model for continuous casting have been developed. The heat transfer models are validated using strand surface temperature and shell thickness measurements. These models are also presented in this paper.
