High strength synchronizer hubs by sinter-hardening
Synchronizer hubs can be produced by various processing techniques of which sinterhardening is the most cost effective for the manufacture of high strength synchronizer hubs. The impact of sinterhardening on mechanical properties depends significantly on the alloying conditions like diffusion alloying; prealloying or hybrid. Mechanical performance data (including specific data on endurance limits) forms the base for optimizing the design of modern synchronizer hubs with the aid of finite element calculation and includes the determination of safety aspects against fracture and fatigue failure.
