Preparation of core-shell type particles by injection method
SiO2@ Al(OH)(3) core-shell type particles were prepared by injecting Al(NO3)(3) solution into NaHCO3 solution in which the SiO2 core particles were dispersed. The monodisperse SiO2 core particles with a diameter of around 300 nm were prepared by a seeding technique on the basis of hydrolyzing tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) in aqueous ethanol solutions with ammonia as catalyst. The shell with a thickness of 33 nm could be deposited on SiO2 spheres without free Al(OH)(3) particles observable under proper experimental conditions such as 0.5M NaHCO3, 20g/L SiO2, 0.15 M Al(NO3)(3) and 0.1 ml/min as injection speed.
