Modification of photophysical properties of WO3 by doping different metals
WO3 doped with different metallic ions, such as Mg2+, Al3+, In3+, Fe3+, Zr4+, was investigated in the paper. These photocatalysts showed much better photophysical properties than pure WO3, Metal doped WO3 photocatalysts have a band gap energy of range from 1.90 eV to 2.58 eV, whereas the band gap energy of WO3 is 2.8 eV. The method of preparation of the photocatalysts was described in detail in the paper. The effects of sintering temperature and doped metal quantity on photocatalyst structure and its photophysical property were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-DRS). The XRD analysis indicated that the monoclinic crystal structure of WO3 was not altered during doping and sintering.
