The role of nc-TiN surface coverage by a-Si3N4 for the control of room temperature and in-dry-air oxidation resistance of nc-TiN/a-Si3N4/a- and nc-TiSi2 nanocomposites
It is shown that the enhancement of room temperature and in-dry-air oxidation resistance of TiN/a-Si3N4/a- & nc- TiSi2 nanocomposite is due to the role of a-Si3N4 phase. The high oxidation resistance is achieved when the surface TiN and TiSi2 nanocrystals are covered by approximately 1 monolayer (1 ML) of a-Si3N4 phase.
