Adsorption of heavy metal ions onto the surface of metal-incorporated hydrous ferric oxide particles
The substitution of manganese ions for the lattice Fe3+ ions in goethite (alpha-FeOOH) contributes to a preferential removal of Pb-II from low-pH solutions. This effect was enhanced by the excess addition of manganese nitrate in the synthetic process for Mn-incorporated goethite particles. This enhancement was caused by the formation of the specific surface sites for the selective adsorption of Pb-II.
