Tribological properties of SiC structural materials
Nowadays one of the most favoured technical ceramics is the SiC. It cannot be found often in minerals, nevertheless it can be formed several ways artificially. And even more, after post treatment it has much more forms depending on the bounding between the grains and the microstructure. Because of its remarkable features, its field of end-use increases progressively in engineering applications. Among its features the most considerable is its heat, thermal-shock and wear resistance. These properties predestinate it to be used for structural material of furnace and special tools under wear conditions. This paper studies the effect of three different post treatments on the wear coefficient of the SiC product.
