A Simple Preparation of Small, Smooth Silica Spheres in a Seed Alcosol for Stober Synthesis
A simple method is presented for the preparation of small silica spheres with a diameter of about 32 nm with a well-defined shape and smooth surface, The method comprises the dilution of an aqueous sodium-silicate solution with excess ethanol, The resulting alcosols are convenient seed solutions for the Stober silica synthesis.
