Synthesis, characterization and in vitro drug release property of amino acid end-capped aliphatic polycarbonates
A series of amino acid end-capped aliphatic polycarbonates (CV-PDTC)s was synthesized via ring-opening polymerization of 2,2-dimethyl trimethylene carbonate initiated by N-carbobenzyloxy-l-valine without metallic catalyst. The chemical structure of CV-PDTC was verified by Fourier transform infrared spectra, nuclear magnetic resonance spectra (H-1 NMR) and gel permeation chromatography. The molecular weight of CV-PDTC could be adjusted by varying reaction condition. The thermal behavior of resultant polycarbonates was measured by differential scanning calorimetry, the result indicated that the crystalline property was related to the structure. The drug release results demonstrated that CV-PDTC had a good sustained-release effect for drug, and that the release behavior was controlled by a diffusion-degradation mechanism.
