Adsorption Study of Porous Structure Development in Carbon-Blacks
The development of surface properties of commercial carbon blacks was studied by means of nitrogen adsorption over a wide range of pressures. The specific surface area of the samples was evaluated using the standard BET method. The micropore volume and external surface area were obtained from the t-plot method. Distributions of the pore volume and the adsorption energy were calculated numerically by employing the regularization method. It was shown that adsorption measurements provide profound insight into the energetic and structural heterogeneity of porous and nonporous carbon materials.
