Effect of the surfactant type on its ability to extract oil-derived products from various substrates
Powdered sorbent, clay and soil samples were polluted with gas oil and extd. with org. solvents (cyclohexane, C7H16) and H2O optionally in presence of corm and exptl. surfactants. The extn. efficiency was detd. by UV absorption spectrometry Full removal of pollutants was achieved when org. solvents were used. The water was inefficient. The addn. of surfactants (esp. Na nonylphenolsulfonate and etoxylated C-11-C-13 fatty acids) resulted in increasing the removal degree up to 76% and 60%, resp.
