Dried fucus was extd. with AcMe at 50-150 degrees C for 10-30 min to recover C-14-C-18 fatty acids. The exts. contained 22-38% of the fatty acids. The extn. yield was by 40% higher than that achieved by Soxhlet extn. The extn. process was evaluated statistically.
