Recovery of fatty substances from post-frying waste materials by extraction with hexane

Post-frying waste oil was extd. with hexane at 20-60 degrees C for 15-45 min to recover the fatty substances. The extn. yield was 56-70%. The exts. showed higher acid and peroxide nos. than allowed for food. They can be however used as raw material for prodn. of biofuels.
