Heat and smoke release rate by combustion of nonmodified and flame retardants-modified epoxy resins
Four corn. flame retardants were added (5% by mass) to an epoxy resin to decrease its flammability, heat release rate, mass loss rate, smoke release rate, emission of C oxides and mass of residue during combustion at heat flux 30 kW/m(2). The expts. were carried out in a cone calorimeter. The highest decrease in flammability was achieved after addn. of montmorillonite and melamine polyphosphate.
