Infinite Dilution Activity Coefficients for Copolymer Solutions Containing Poly(vinylchloride-co-vinylacetate)
The infinite dilution activity coefficients of various solvents were measured for copolymer solutions containing poly(vinylchloride-co-vinylacetate) by using a gas chromatography (GC) from 398.15K to 473.15K. The solvents were aliphatic hydrocarbons (acetone, n-decane, n-octane, and cyclohexane) or aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, ethylbenzene, chlorobenzene, toluene, and p-xylene). The UNIFAC-FV and the GC-Flory-EOS models that had a common free volume contribution term, different from the original models, were used to predict the infinite dilution activity coefficients of solvents in copolymer solutions. The results predicted by the UNIFAC-FV and the GC-Flory -EOS were compared with the experimental data. The construction rates between terms that contributed to the infinite dilution activity coefficient of solvents were required to describe the predictable ability of the models in copolymer solutions.
