Synthesis of stable lyotropic ferronematics with high magnetic content
We report synthesis of colloidal solutions of ferrite nanoparticles in the surfactant micellar system potassium laurate/1-decanol/water within its region of nematic order, The obtained ferronematic specimens are reversibly oriented by low (less than or equal to 100 Oe) magnetic fields and retain their transparency and stability for several months.
