The first two terms of the short-time reversible response to a potential step at a general planar electrode are given, showing both the area and edge contributions to the current. This result permits the determination of all electrochemical parameters for reversible simple electron transfer, including unequal diffusion coefficients, from short-time data obtained at microelectrodes.
