Theoretical Formulation of the Odd Harmonic Test Criterion for Eis Measurements
The effects of electrochemical non-linearities on impedance measurements have been investigated. Theoretical expressions are derived that relate the error in the impedance measured using a Frequency Response Analyzer to the harmonic distortion in the response to the sinusoidal excitation signal. A validity test for impedance measurements is proposed, based on the odd harmonic components of the electrode response. Applications for this test are presented.
