Theory of the Ec’ Electrode Process in Double Potential Step Techniques
The complete solution to the double-pulse problem for the EC’ mechanism has been derived. This solution is general for all modes of double-pulse voltammetry and allows us to describe the characteristics of the differential pulse polarography (DPP), differential normal pulse polarography (DNPP) and reverse pulse polarography (RPP) responses, among others. From these responses, the analytical applications of the corresponding double-pulse techniques are discussed. Also, a detailed comparative study with the predictions of the solution previously reported by Kim and Birke (Anal. Chem., 55 (1983) 522) for the DPP response involved with this mechanism is presented.
