Synthesis of magnetically recyclable ZSM-5 zeolite for styrene epoxide rearrangement reaction
New magnetically recyclable and efficient ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst has been successfully synthesized by deposition of ZSM-5 zeolite layer on the surface of silica coated magnetite beads (Fe3O4/SiO2). The as-prepared magnetic ZSM-5 zeolite (MZZ) catalyst was characterized by several analyses such as TEM, SEM, BET and XRD. Its catalytic activities and recycle efficiency were also investigated. By applying an appropriate external magnetic field the MZZ catalyst was separated easily without agglomeration and reused efficiently with no significant loss of catalytic activity. Moreover, this catalyst exhibits the high catalytic efficiency for styrene epoxide rearrangement, an important and commercially interesting reaction as it allows the synthesis of useful intermediates for the chemical industry.
