EPR, optical absorption and superposition model studies of Cr3+ doped dipotassium stannic chloride monohydrate
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of Cr3+ doped dipotassium stannic chloride monohydrate (DPSC) single crystals is done at room temperature. Cr3+ ion enters the host lattice substitutionally, replacing ICE ion. The local site symmetry of Cr3+ ion in the lattice is orthorhombic. Spin Hamiltonian parameters and zero field splitting (ZFS) parameters are determined. Optical absorption study is performed at room temperature. ZFS parameters are also evaluated theoretically using superposition model and microscopic spin Hamiltonian theory. The theoretical ZFS parameters are in good agreement with the experimental values.
