Reaction of electrogenerated oxamniquine radical anion with glutathione
Cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the electrochemical reduction of oxamniquine at glassy carbon electrode in general, and the oxamniquine radical anion formed by the electrochemical reduction of oxamniquine in aqueous alkaline media in particular. Analysis of the response as a function of scan rate reveals that the electrogenerated oxamniquine radical anion is quite stable. Typical values of k(2) = 635 l mol(-1) s(-1) and t(1/2) = 2.1 s for the rate constant and half life time were obtained at pH 11.1 for oxamniquine concentration of 7.4 x 10(-4) mol l(-1). Cyclic voltammetry was also employed to study the decomposition of oxamniquine radical anion in presence of glutathione in detail.
