Synthetic and electrochemical studies of anthraquinone-substituted poly(pyrrole) films
Anthraquinone-containing poly(pyrrole) thin films have been generated by oxidative electropolymerization of a pyrrole-substituted anthraquinone. N-(1-Anthraquinone)-6-(1-pyrrol)hexamide is produced in high yield, following a convenient three-step synthesis. Electrochemically well-behaved thin films on glassy carbon are formed with this monomer. Derivatives where pyrrole or thiophene groups are directly attached to the anthraquinone did not form thin films.
