Effect of Interaction between A-Site Deficient LST and ScSZ on Electrochemical Performance of SOFC
The effect of the interaction between A-site deficient La-substituted SrTiO3 (LST) and 1CeO(2)-10Sc(2)O(3)-89ZrO(2) (ScSZ) on the electrochemical performance of SOFC was investigated. (L0.25Sr0.75)(0.9)TiO3 (LST-0.9) with perovskite phase and (L0.25Sr0.75)(0.85)TiO3 (LST-0.85) with perovskite phase and little rutile TiO2 phase were produced. ScSZ electrolyte-supported SOFCs with LST-0.9/ScSZ composite anode and LST-0.85/ScSZ composite anode sintered at different temperature (1000 and 1200 degrees C) were respectively performed at 1000 degrees C in humidified H-2. Rapid electrochemical performance degradation occurred during the initial few hours of the test for the cells with LST-0.9/ScSZ composite anode and LST-0.85/ScSZ composite anode sintered at 1200 degrees C. Inter-diffusion processes of Zr and Sc from ScSZ into LST-0.9 and Ti from LST-0.85 into ScSZ occurred during anode preparation processes and the performance test were respectively considered as dominant degradation mechanism for the cells with LST-0.9/ScSZ composite anode and LST-0.85/ScSZ composite anode. Details of the degradation mechanism for the cells with two kinds of anodes were discussed respectively. (C) 2014 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
