Improved photovoltaic efficiency on TiO2/In2S3 double layered electrodes
To enhance the photovoltaic efficiency of TiO2 multilayer, a scattering layer of In2S3 particle is designed in dye-sensitized solar cell system. The SEM image of In2S3 powder shows micro-sized 3D chrysanthemum-like shapes are formed by aggregation of wedge like nanosheets. The efficiency of the dye-sensitized solar cells assembled with In2S3 scattering layer is higher than the DSSC assembled with double layered TiO2 electrode. The short-circuit current density increases approximately 21.65% over TiO2/1.0 wt.% In2S3-DSSC and the incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency in the maximum peak also enhances about 17% compared to the DSSC assembled with double layered TiO2 electrode. Eventually, the maximum conversion efficiency obtained for TiO2/1.0 wt.% In2S3-DSSC is 5.80%. This result indicates that the double layered TiO2/In2S3 electrode acts as a scattering layer of incident light path and that an increasing array of current density is obtained with more photons, which thus improves the quantum efficiency.
