Polyether Is were synthesized in reactions of melamine with ethylene or/and propylene carbonates at 165-178 degrees C and used for prepn. polyurethane foams in reaction with (p-OCNC6H4)(2)CH2 at room temp. in presence of NEt3 and H. The foams showed good thermal stability (up to 200 degrees C) and mech. properties as well as low H2O absorption.
