Selective hydrogenation of xanthohumol to alpha,beta-dihydroxanthohumol
xanthohumol was reduced to alpha,beta-dihydroxanthohumol with Et3SI in MeCI, Zn powder in EtOH or AcOH, H-2 or 3% Pt/C and NaBH4 in MeOH. Only catalytic redn. with H-2 was efficient (100% conversion, high selectivity).
