Optimization of the composition of fuel flame-coloring fuels
A flameless solid fuel was prepd. by compounding a basic fuel (consisting of PhOH/CH2O resin, paraffinic oil or painter's naphtha and H2SO4 1:1:0.05 by vol.), CuCl2, Ba(NO3)(2), LiCI, SrCl2 and optionally NH4HCO3, starch, charcoal or wood pellets, moulded as pellets and tested for burning both under lab. conditions and in fireplace. The best flame-coloring effect was achieved when paraffinic oil was used for prepn. of the basic fuel and LiCl and CuCl2 center dot 2H(2)O were used as coloring agents.
