Preparation and properties of corn starch oxidation products
Corn starch was oxidized with H2O2 (1.5-7.5 mol/mol of anhydroglucose units) in presence of CuSO4 as a catalyst (up to 0.5%). The oxidn. degree increased from 5 up to above 57% with the increasing amts. of H2O2 and CuSO4. The soly. of the oxidized starch in water and elec. cond. of the aq. solns. increased while their pH decreased with increasing the oxidn. degree.
