Role of biogenic silver nanoparticles in disruption of cell?cell adhesion in Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli biofilm
E-mail:
Silver nanoparticles were synthesized using tea extract. The antibacterial activity of the nanoparticles against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was demonstrated. Eradication of bacterial biofilm was observed on the silicon tubes and polystyrene coverslips in a dose dependent manner. Release of cellular contents was noted from bacterial cells as a consequence of nanoparticle treatment, which confirmed the impairment of bacterial cell?cell adhesion. Stability of nanoparticles at different environments showed its utility in varied conditions. Hence, synthesized nanoparticles can be thought of as therapeutic compounds against microbial infection and can be used as a coating material in multitude of medical applications.
