This paper focuses on the importance of safety and risk management in design to ensure that the safety requirements of regulatory agencies are complied with and that the company＇s safety goals are implemented in a cost-effective manner. Practical advice is given for safety management during the different phases of an offshore project, and the principles are illustrate by practical examples.
