Donut-shaped Co3O4 nanoflakes grown on nickel foam with enhanced supercapacitive performances
Donut-shaped Co3O4 nanoflakes grown on nickel foam were successfully fabricated by a simple one-pot hydrothermal approach. The prepared products were functionalized as the supercapacitors electrodes. Electrochemical performance of the as-prepared products demonstrated high specific capacitance (518 mF cm(-2)) and excellent cycling stability (similar to 25% loss) after 6000 repetitive cycles at a charge-discharge current density of 1 mA cm(-2). The superior electrochemical performance may be ascribed into two reasons: one is the unique spatial structures which possess many active sites and provide enhanced combination between the electrode and nickel foam to support fast ion and electron transfer, the other is that donut-shaped Co3O4 nanoflakes electrodes show relatively lower resistances. It is expected that the as-obtained donut-shaped Co3O4 nanoflakes could have potential applications in portable electronics and electrical vehicles. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
