Effect of titania on the properties of Zn-Fe-O sorbents of hydrogen sulfide
High-temperature removal of sulfur compounds from gas from coal gasification is crucial to improve the efficiency of the installation, as well as protect it from corrosion. This paper presents results of the studies on the effect of titanium dioxide on the properties of Zn-Fe-O sorbents for high-temperature capture of hydrogen sulfide. It was found that TiO2 forms a mixed oxide with both zinc (Zn2TiO4) and iron (Fe2TiO5) oxides. These new phases are more resistant to the reduction and formation of carbon deposit and iron carbide than zinc ferrite. The effects of TiO2 content, phase composition and desulfurization temperature on the adsorption capacity were studied and discussed. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
