The recent paper by Obande et al. (2014) [Spectral analysis of aeromagnetic data for geothermal investigation of Wikki warm Spring, north-east Nigeria] applied the centroid method adopted by Okubo et al. (1985) in the estimation of Curie Point Depth (CPD) from spectral analysis of aeromagnetic data, however the implementation of the background mathematics may be faulty. Here, I would like to clarify the method and point out the likely faults in the paper. This would assist researchers in the proper implementation of the method. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd.
