Closed-form Formulas for Adhesion Energy of Blister Tests Under Pressure and Point Load
Based on the nonlinear finite element analysis results and the known theoretical equations for the two extreme regimes of bending plate and stretching membrane, we propose two new closed-form formulas for determining the adhesion energy or interfacial energy release rate for pressurized and point-loaded blister tests. A comparison with existing experimental data shows that the present formulas can predict energy release rate well in the full range of all parameters, covering all three regimes of bending plate, transition from plate to membrane, and stretching membrane, for both pressurized and point-loaded blister tests.
