Integrated Development of Fractured Horizontal Wells in The Slave Point Formation
Higher oil prices and depleting conventional resources have motivated operators to focus on the tight-carbonate-platform portion of the Middle Devonian Slave Point carbonate formation in north central Alberta. One of the primary engineering challenges is the optimization of the fracture size, geometry, and conductivity along the length of a horizontal well. In the complete paper, 16 stages of microseismic (MS) data collected from two wellbores were used to constrain fracture geometries, to ultimately gain a better understanding of the resultant fracture production performance.
