Preparation of Chelating Polypropylene Adsorbent by Radiation-Induced Grafting Technique : IV. Adsorption Characteristics
The fibrous chelating polypropylene adsorbents were prepared by radiation-induced grafting technique using 2,3-epoxypropylmethacrylate(GMA) as a monomer and followed by amination with various amines. In this study, the general adsorption characteristics were investigated using diethylenetriamine(DETA) modified adsorbent which have the highest adsorption capacity upon lead ion. It was found that the adsorbents with the degree of grafting ranging from 80% to 120% showed the highest capacity in metal ion adsorption. The adsorption capacities of the prepared chelating polypropylene adsorbents with various amine groups in the same condition was in the order : DETA>EDA>HMDA>DEA>DMA. And, the adsorption capacities of DETA modified adsorbent upon various heavy metal ions were in the order : Pb2+>Cu2+>Hg2+>Cd2+>Co2+>Cs+.
