Modification of thermoplastic rubber surfaces by atmospheric plasma treatment
Two outsoles made of thermoplastic rubber were modified by low temp. plasma under atm. pressure after prepurifn. with Me2Co and then joined with cowhide with a polyurethane adhesive. The peel strengths of the bonds were 6.56 N/mm and 7.06 N/mm after hydrothermal ageing for 7 days and met the quality requirements of the footwear industry.
