The paper discusses the possibilities and perspectives of solid recovered fuels (SRFs) use to power and heat energy production. The special attention is given to legal status of SRFs in Poland and in European Union, its consequences, suggestions of changes and resulting profits. The available technologies as well as economic aspects of SRFs usage to energy production are reviewed. The activities undertaken by Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal (IChPW) within the SRFs preparation and application fields are presented.
